![]() ![]() Holiday Sing at Virginia Road
Camcorders were running, cameras were flashing, and spirits were high at the Virginia Road Elementary School Holiday Sing on Dec. 23.
Incorporating movement with song, the 128 second-grade students elicited laughter with their renditions of “Must be Santa” and “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” and solemnity when they sang “My Candles” and “Let There Be Peace on Earth.” The gymnasium-turned-concert-hall was packed with parents, grandparents, and siblings, and teachers and administrators from the Valhalla School District. Bobbi Overton directed the children from her post at the piano, while student musicians played the xylophone and percussive instruments during strategic moments in the songs. Other holiday favorites performed were: “Jingle Bells,” “Dreydl,” “Suzy Snowflake,” “Deck the Halls,” “Oh Chanukah,” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.” “I think you’d have to be the Christmas Grinch not to leave with your heart smiling,” said Diane Ramos-Kelly, superintendent. |
